Why free and clear laundry detergent?
Laundry detergent was never something that I really thought about, until I became a mom. When my daughter was a few months old, I found out that she had a mild case of eczema. She would get these little bumpy‘s on her body anywhere that clothes would touch her. When I brought her to see the pediatrician he said that it was likely to be the laundry detergent I used. At the time I used dyes and scents. Once I made the switch to scent, free dye free laundry detergent’s I have not gone back. Since then, (9 years and two more kids later, damn) I have tried many different brands Like All free and clear, Dreft, Tide Free and Gentle, Seventh generation and even DIY laundry detergent.
Frankly, all of these brands are awesome but are ridiculously expensive for the amount of laundry that I end up doing. You know a husband in the military, three kids (who change 5000x a day), two dogs, a fish and a partridge in a pear tree. I needed my most pet load to go down, A LOT. I did the DIY laundry detergent thing. It took time; who ever has enough of that? Not me. I also felt it just didn’t give me the results I wanted. The uniform sweat stink was still faintly present even after washing a couple times and sometimes the clumps in it didn’t completely dissolve.
It was just this year that I found a brand that I could fully commit to. I was searching on Amazon for any scent free die free brand of laundry detergent that caught my eye and found Biokleen. Which makes free and clear laundry detergent! Amazon even breaks down the cost per load for you. Right now it is literally $.09 seriously, how can you beat that? They are a family owned Company that has been around for years apparently. How did I just find out about them? Their whole line of products is made in the USA which I think is amazing. It is plant based, unscented, no artificial fragrances or preserves and is super concentrated!
This is the amount of detergent I use for a LARGE HE load. (I never do small loads who am I kidding) If I didn’t have the HE washer machine I would just need to fill up the scoop completely. I would still get 100 loads out of this box too.
One day I plan on trying their liquid detergent if the need ever arises. So far though, I have just used the powdered detergent. I bought this box 3 months ago. I do AT LEAST A load of laundry a day between the five of us. Only used maybe half of the box of detergent. How crazy is that?
This stuff lasts forever!
Check this out, I bought this box in July of this year, it is now October 13. I still have about half left With the amount of laundry I do regularly.
Here is what the free and clear laundry detergent looks like all up close and personal. No big chunks, no clumps that won’t dissolve in the washer machine and it takes up far less space than a giant jug of liquid detergent.
Biokleen comes in a cardboard box, with a 10 pound bag of laundry detergent inside. The box it comes in doesn’t seem super practical for daily use so I keep mine in an old Oxy Clean container. It refills their large container two times! Another storage method could be one of those cute glass jars you see on Pinterest, or just a simple Rubbermaid container to put it in.
